Championing the Message of the Clean Energy Transition

Client Overview

EERE’s mission is to accelerate the research, development, demonstration, and deployment of technologies to transition the United States to net-zero greenhouse gas emissions and ensure the clean energy economy benefits all Americans—especially workers and communities impacted by the energy transition and those historically underserved by the energy system and overburdened by pollution.

Project Mission

Team LMD collaborated with EERE to provide communications and media strategy, graphic design, copywriting, and speechwriting services, with the goal of communicating the benefits of the clean energy transition for all Americans.

Sharing the Vision of a Clean Energy Economy

As a federal agency with a vital mission, EERE needed a partner that could help them share their vision of a greener future with all Americans. From copywriting and graphic design to strategic and operational support, including internal communications, project management, and media relations, LMD served EERE in many capacities to help them realize this mission.

Building a bench of in-house subject matter experts trained to communicate clearly with the media is critical to an effective communications strategy. LMD developed a customized virtual media training curriculum and a studio-like on-set environment for EERE to equip subject matter experts with the skills to engage with the media. The popularity of these trainings led to LMD hosting six trainings within six months to meet client demand.

LMD also supported EERE’s mission by creating thought-provoking, informative creative assets such as reports, videos, graphics, and illustrations that communicated complex concepts in an easy-to-understand way. These assets were used and shared by the Department of Energy’s and other federal government leaders, including Vice President Kamala Harris. LMD also wrote weekly newsletters, presentations, and fact sheets for the agency; ran EERE’s social media accounts; wrote speeches for EERE leadership; and created and executed public-facing campaigns like the Clean Energy Champion initiative.

WOW! I was blown away by the professionalism, organization, and quality of this week’s media training. The entire team offered valuable insights and brought a unique perspective to the table that will support our principals in messaging EERE.
