LMD, one of the region's top marketing and advertising agencies, announced today that Karen Killian has been elected President, succeeding Founder & CEO Sarah Pugh. Scott Van Der Meid has been named Executive Vice President.
Killian, who joined LMD in 2000, leads the marketing and branding efforts for regional and national clients, including Time Life, Hooked on Phonics, and University of Maryland. Van Der Meid, who has been with the firm for 21 years, sets the creative vision for the firm, and leads the creative team in developing award-winning print, broadcast, and digital communications for clients, such as TekSystems and the Department of Homeland Security.
"Building on Sarah's legacy of unwavering commitment to our clients and our colleagues is a privilege and a responsibility. I look forward to continuing to build our brand, serve our clients, explore dynamic new partnerships, and evolve our digital offerings," Killian said.
Under Pugh's leadership, which has stretched over almost 40 years, LMD evolved from a design studio to a full-service, integrated marketing communications firm with regional and national commercial and government clients. Pugh will continue to provide strategic consultation to the leadership team in support of their innovative vision. Sarah, who is passionate about the future success of LMD noted that while she's not going away, "it's time for a walk on the beach."
