First responders have the tremendous responsibility of keeping our communities safe—especially during the COVID-19 crisis. On #GivingTuesdayNow (May 5, 2020), LMD is supporting the Laurel Volunteer Fire Department (LVFD) by sending meals to thank the staff, firefighters, and EMTs for their selfless service.
LMD has provided meals to the LVFD since the end of March through our #FortifyOurFrontlines initiative. To cover gaps in supplies, LMD also provided LVFD with additional hand sanitizer and face masks.
“We cannot create change alone, so we’re challenging other businesses, organizations, and individuals to help #FortifyOurFrontlines,” said Karen Killian, LMD’s president. “Our goals are simple: to help our community and inspire others to create positive change.”
Here’s how you can join the #FortifyOurFrontlines challenge:
- Call your local fire department, police station, or healthcare facility and ask them what they need–snacks, meals, cleaning supplies, masks, etc. Remember to ask for delivery instructions.
- Order meals from local restaurants to help them stay in business.
- Post your contribution on social media with #FortifyOurFrontlines to encourage others to do the same.
